Project Consultant

East African Community Services, a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit community building organization, is looking to contract a project consultant that will assist in assessing the needs, creation, design, and/or purchase of a community senior center for the East African elder community living in South Seattle.

The position will be open to a competitive bidding process. The entire expense budget for the contracted position will be $10,000.00. The hourly rate is expected to be between $25 and $30 per hour for a total of 250 to 200 billable hours, respectively. The contract for the position will begin on Jan. 16th and finalize June 15th.

Deliverable Timeline Evaluation
  1. 1.       The consultant will collect and organize community input & data by facilitating public meetings.
1.a.The consultant will host and facilitate 4 public meetings in the South Seattle area that will focus on identifying and assessing the needs of East African seniors. 1st– by Jan. 31st2nd– by Feb. 31st3rd– by March 31st4th – by April 31st

1.b.The consultant will create data collection and presentation materials for the meetings. By Jan. 31st

1.c.The consultant will analyze the data from these meetings to create an assessment of the community’s preferences in the creation, design, and/or purchase of a community senior center. May 13th

  1. 2.       The consultant will report findings during the monthly Steering Committee Meetings
2.a.Each month during the project the consultant will report on the progress of the project, describe steps that are taking place in the coming month, and identify any current or future hurdles to completing the project on schedule to the steering committee and East African Community Services. By the final Friday of the month from Jan to May.

2.b.In the month following the final public meeting the consultant will present a completed assessment report of the community’s preferences in the creation, design, and/or purchase of a community senior center.

  1. 3.       The consultant will create sustainable plan for financing the creation of a senior center that is in line with the previously assessed community  needs and interests.
3.a.The consultant will research and compile a database of funding sources that would provide the financial and other support needed to create, design, and/or purchase a community senior center that would facilitate the needs & interests identified during the prior public meetings. June 15th
